A weekend getaway to Savannah was just what I needed to wrap up the year. It was my first time to this charming city and even though I had only 48 hours, I quickly fell in love with Savannah’s local restaurants, small shops, historic homes, & 22 square parks located within blocks of each other! THE OLDE PINK HOUSE
If you’re looking for an Instagram-worthy spot in Savannah, The Olde Pink House is the spot. Considered one of Savannah’s most popular restaurants, The Olde Pink House serves new southern cuisine inside the city’s only 18th Century Mansion. I had the fried chicken platter and their iconic pink drink during my visit.

The drive down Wormsloe Plantation’s live oak and Spanish moss will take your breath away. Definitely worth the drive from historic Savannah.

SAVANNAH THINGS TO DO: FORSYTH PARK
In the 1840s, William Brown Hogson conceived the idea of setting aside ten acres of wooded land for the development of Savannah’s first recreational park. It was named for former Georgia Governor John Forsyth. Now spanning 30-acres, Forsyth Park is the largest and oldest park in Savannah that is loved by locals and visitors for its unique blend of natural beauty, history, and attractions.

SAVANNAH THINGS TO DO: MERCER WILLIAMS HOUSE TOUR
If you’re going to visit one house in Savannah, make it the Mercer Williams House. It’s considered the city’s most mysterious house considering it’s seen many tragedies and it’s cited as “nationally significant” for its architectural style in a historic foundation survey. The Mercer Williams House is known for its connection to John Berendt’s novel, “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.”
The Mercer Williams House was designed by New York architect John S. Norris for General High W. Mercer, great-grandfather of Johnny Mercer.

OLD TOWN TROLLEY TOURS SAVANNAH
Historic Savannah is filled with history and the best way to learn all about it is to climb aboard the Old Town Trolley Tours. There’s 15 stops highlighting more than 100 points of interest and allows you to go on and off as often as you wish.

SAVANNAH THINGS TO DO: SHOP ON DESIGN DISTRICT
Located right before Forsyth Park, Whitaker Street is now known as the Design District. Popular shops include Custard (women’s boutique), Circa Lighting, One Fish Two Fish, The Annex, Number Four Eleven, La Paperie, The Future on Forsyth, and the famous restaurant Mrs. Wilkes House and Dining Room. Be warned, the line is very long. I tried going twice in one day but the wait was too long.

WHERE TO STAY IN SAVANNAH

Hotel Indigo Savannah is conveniently located right in the middle of the Savannah Historic District, walking distance to restaurants, sights, and shops. Known to locals as the “Grand Lady on the Bay,” the building was once the 19th-century mega-merchant Simon Guckenheimer’s dry goods storage house and shop.
Start your morning with breakfast in bed with a dutch baby pancake, a local Savannah specialty, and grab a cup of coffee in the lobby on your way out. I love that Hotel Indigo features local producers like Savannah Coffee Roasters!
