It’s been so hot lately that I’ve been craving simpler meals like avocado toast, and cooler meals like acai bowls. Inspired by my recent getaway to the Caribbean’s, this tropical acai bowl, packed with antioxidants, will make you feel as if you’ve transported yourself to an island! Try a coconut bowl or a pineapple boat!
The fun part is picking the toppings. Pile on the strawberries, bananas, mango, kiwi, a drizzle of honey, a sprinkle of chia seeds or dried goji berries, spoonful of granola and shredded coconut. The options are nearly endless, and up to you!
Açaí bowls are a tasty way to begin your day with a healthy breakfast, or as some quick fuel for the afternoon. I found the Sambazon acai berry packs at my local Whole Foods in the frozen aisle next to the frozen fruit. The Sambazon brand is made with all organic and GMO-free ingredients sustainably sourced in the Brazilian Amazon.

What is acai?
The acai berry is a fruit harvested from acai palm trees, native to the rainforests of South America. Acai berries are packed with antioxidants, fiber, and heart-healthy fats. Widely called a superfruit because they may help with arthritis, weight loss, high cholesterol, skin appearance, detoxification, and general health.
How To Make A Tropical Acai Bowl
The base of an acai bowl is frozen acai berry puree, frozen bananas (adds a thicker consistency) and your choice of dairy (I like Almond Breeze Almondmilk Original).
