Table of Contents
1. Prickly Pear Challenge Course
I’m terrified of heights but what’s better than overcoming your fears during vacation? Our first activity was the Prickly Pear Challenge Course, which involved climbing up a net, walking across wood boards and cables while holding onto the ropes above our heads. 35 feet in the air was pretty scary, but not as scary as he 250-foot zipline flight across the tree tops of Texas Hill Country. My heart was racing but the adrenaline made me go again!
2. Giant Swing
Remember those little swings you use to play on when you were little? This is the adult version of the old favorite. Strap in and hold on as you’re hoisted 35 feet in the air. Pull the cord and off you go.
3. Mountain Biking
Experience the beautiful Austin hill country on Travaasa’s lower loop cross country mountain bike trail. I don’t know how to ride a bike so I sat out on this one. The boyfriend had fun though!
4. Yoga
Starting the day with a morning stretch and yoga session overlooking Travaasa’s infiniti pool was pure zen.
5. Climbing Wall & Zipline
I loved the challenge course and ziplining so much that we came back the next day for wall climbing and another zip down the 250-feet course.
6. Trail Rides
The intimate horseback ride along the scenic trails, along mountain trails, and over creeks of the hill country was one of our favorite activities! You learn how to create a bond between yourself and your horse. This activity did cost an additional $75 per person but it was worth it!
7. Farm Tour and Harvest
Come on down to the farm, get dirty, enjoy a bit of nature, and learn about Travaasa’s farm. Catching a chicken is a lot harder than it looks. We had so much fun collecting eggs, and even got to take them back to the restaurant where they made us a sunny side up egg for breakfast!
8. Thai Partner Stretch
Thai stretches is a system of massage and assisted stretching developed in Thailand. Thai massage and stretch is a combination of influences from Indian, Chinese, Southeast Asian cultural spheres and traditions of medicine. We learned how to use deep static and rhythmic presses to energize and rejuvenate each other.
9. Herbal Tincture Class
Ever curious on what you can do with your backyard herbs? Learn with Travaasa’s herbalist Kim on how to see and taste medicinal tinctures made from central Texas herbs. We got to pick herbs in Travaasa’s garden and create a tincture together.
10. Infinity Pool
Travaasa’s saline infinity pool overlooks the serene and scenic hill country landscape. I was swooning over the pool and the view! We stayed at Travaasa for Christmas so the weather was cold but I had to get in the water. 30 degree water is freezing but it was so worth it!
11. Fresh, Local, and Organic Cuisine
Travaasa’s The Preserve Kitchen + Bar serves delicious dishes composed of fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible (from their own garden & the surrounding farms!); and fostering a sense of community at the table. We loved all our meals here!
12. Spa
A visit to The Spa at Travaasa Austin goes far beyond pampering and indulgence. The spa features 11 treatment rooms, including a couple’s room, as well as a hot tub and dry sauna, our unique Texas spa sits adjacent to the property’s saline infinity pool, which overlooks the serene and scenic hill country landscape.
Pick from an array of massages, healing rituals, beauty treatments and personalized services, using only organic, bioenergetic products, including the Primavera and Anakiri skin care lines, which are also available in the Spa Boutique.
13. Luxury Resort Rooms
Experience is the new luxury, comfortable accommodations in Austin, Texas incorporate tasteful and soothing décor – the ultimate setting to unwind. Travaasa’s Canyon View hotel rooms feature expansive balconies with breathtaking views of the Texas Hill Country. Trail View hotel rooms offer a balcony overlooking the property’s gardens and trails. Each room features organic linens, bathrooms with walk-in showers and plush robes.
14. Top Notch Hospitality
I shared these two tidbits about Travaasa’s hospitality as a speaker at the Austin Concierge and Guest Services Association. 1.) While we were out for dinner on Christmas eve, the staff snuck into our room and hid homemade cookies and local, old-fashioned Mil-king milk (you need to try this milk at Whole Foods, if you haven’t already). 2.) We became friends with these sisters from New York over lunch who told us how incredible the staff at Travaasa was. Apparently the staff overheard that they really wanted to try Texas barbecue (this was their first trip to Texas), but they didn’t have a car. So the staff drove to Rudy’s BBQ to picked up barbecue/sides and surprised them.
15. Ultimate Staycation & Vacation Getaway
It’s hard to imagine Travaasa is located only 19 miles from downtown Austin. It felt like we flew somewhere for vacation! When not trying out Travaasa’s different experiences, I spent most of my time relaxing the spa and curled up in the cabanas. We loved our 3-day stay at Travaasa and will definitely be staycationing here again!
