This is A Taste of Koko’s Top 10 for 2010. Actually this is A Taste of Koko’s first year in the blogasphere and it’s been a great year! I seriously can’t wait to see what wil make the top 10 in 2011.
As you can tell, A Taste of Koko is already undergoing renovations. The web address has been change to www.atasteofkoko.com but any links with ‘blogspot’ will still direct you here. The banner has been changed and the pages, which can be viewed by clicking on the tabs above, are slowly getting updated. There will also be the addition of a ‘About Me’ page! As always, I welcome any suggestions and commentary. I want to hear both the good & the bad.
Top 10 of 2010.
Forget that thick, overly sweet so called eggnog from the supermarket. The egg whites in this recipe it keep light and frothy. And instead of the traditional glass of eggnog that incorporates rum, this eggnog uses not just two but three kinds of alcohol. Dark rum, bourbon, and brandy. I’m not too sure if Santa even made it back into his sleigh.
9. Crostatas
Big and juicy rasberries surrounded in fluffy cloud of fresh whipped topping in a baked crust.
Can anyone recognize this special gingerbread men? That’s right, it’s Gingy from Shrek!
Ra Ra Ra Ah Ah Ah, Roma Ro Ma Ma, Ga Ga Ohh La La can only mean.. Lady Gaga inspired cupcakes! I even dressed up as Lady Gaga for Halloween.. I must say being surrounded by paparazzi (not as intense as Lady Gaga’s) in downtown Austin is rather tiring.
6. ShiLin Night Market in Taiwan
The biggest night market in Taiwan that has everything and anything from clothes to food. The place where I had stinky tofu.
5. Chocolate cupcakes & mascarpone frosting with Aha Moments
Deletable chocolate cupcakes with fluffy mascarpone frosting. This was one of the first recipes that I posted before getting contacted by the Mutual of Omaha for their Aha Moments campaign.
4. Roasted Turkey
My first Thanksgiving turkey! I was so addicted in the preparation and roasting process that I baked 2 for Thanksgiving.
3. Kimchi Jigae
A spicy, soul satisfying soup made from pork, tofu, and kimchi.
Pumpkin pie, meet cheesecake. Cheesecake, meet pumpkin. Nothing screams Thanksgiving more than pumpkin pie. Together they form one pie with the best of both worlds. The cream cheese gives the pumpkin a smooth, silky texture that just melts in your mouth. And the turtle topping? Gives an nutty explosion of flavor that contrasts with that smoothness. Don’t expect any leftovers.
1. Hello Kitty Restaurant
The billion dollar iconic Hello Kitty trademark has taken over restaurants and soon, the world. Imagine a restaurant decorated entirely of pink, including the waitresses, and everything adore with Hello Kitty. The burgers, chicken pot pie, milk shakes, ice cubes, creme brulee, pies… (Can you believe I’ve gotten 9000 hits and counting on this post??)
