When I bought my house it came with this cream-colored carpet that easily got stained from foot traffic, food spills, doggie, and cat accidents so it was time for it to go. I replaced the carpet downstairs with engineered hardwood floors – it’s been a couple of years since I’ve had it and to be honest, I don’t love it. The engineered hardwood scratches too easily and the dark color flooring shows everything. Paw prints, footprints, dust, and cat litter. So when I getting ready to renovate my second floor, I definitely didn’t want to go with any kind of hardwood or bamboo and wanted a light color. I wanted the flooring to go into the bathrooms upstairs so I also needed a material that would be waterproof.
Shopping around I found the Grizzly Bay Oak Vinyl at Lumber Liquidators and after the installation in my home, I LOVE it.
FREE FLOORING SAMPLES
Trust me you don’t want to make a massive order and then discover the flooring isn’t the color or texture that you want. So make sure to order several different flooring samples. Lumber Liquidators offers free flooring samples and there are two ways to get them.
- Visit your local Lumber Liquidators store for 3 FREE samples.
- Order 3 samples online for $10 and free shipping* and get a $10 credit towards your next purchase.
I actually ordered 3 samples and then decided to go into my local store to see more options and I’m SO glad I did because the samples I originally picked out were too warm and I wanted a neutral gray.
BEFORE
Here's what the cream carpet looked like in my master bedroom. Eek all the stains!
The contractors ripped up all the carpet on the second floor – master bedroom, master bathroom, master closet, hallway, laundry room, guest bathroom, guest bedroom #1, and guest bedroom #2. I also wanted the carpet removed on the stairs and replaced with the vinyl.
Lumber Liquidators did recommend (not required) adding an underlayment between the base flooring and vinyl. This also adds extra protection in case there’s ever a water leak.
The carpet on the stairs was removed last – the stairs took two days and a full one day just to remove the carpet and clean it up. Stairs are expensive – that’s just the truth and I can see why because there’s so much clean up required.
AFTER
And here it is – my new Scandinavian-inspired flooring! I’m super, super happy with the Grizzly Bay Oak Vinyl from Lumber Liquidators. It’s waterproof too with a lifetime warranty! The flooring is very comfortable to walk on and the white/grey color makes my second floor so bright during the day. We’ve had a couple of spills in the house since and it’s been very easy to clean up.
See how I styled my home with the new flooring in my bedroom.
