When La Pâtisserie asked me to host an Instagram Workshop, I couldn’t have been more excited! La Pâtisserie makes the most delicious macarons (fresh flavors every single day!), cronuts, croissants, and pastries. I’ve also been wanting to do more #kokohosts events. Check out the hashtag for all the events that I’ve hosted!
We started off Sunday morning with mimosas, cinnamon rolls, and a colorful macaron tower. Perfect props for an Instagram worthy picture!

Here’s a rundown of what we talked about during the Instagram workshop:
Always use natural lighting. Try to shoot next to the window in a restaurant or at home, and never use flash.
Try different perspectives. Top down flatlays are great for capturing a food scene (my iconic shot), or a side profile to show a tower of macarons.
Gather props. Whether it’s your friends digging into the food, or putting your sunglasses in the photo.
Use editing apps. My favorites are Fotograf, Snapseed, and VSCOcam. I did a walkthrough of how to edit photos in each app during the workshop.
Geotag your Instagram posts. That way people can discover your photo and your account on Instagram!
Everyone had fun learning how to style a picture perfect weekend photo, how to edit the photo with my favorite editing apps, and the tips and tricks to optimizing Instagram! Here’s a couple of my favorites from the workshop:
