Welcome to my master walk-in closet! I’m so excited to finally have the closet of my dreams. You might have heard me say, “of my dream” lately and that’s because after owning my home for 5 years, I’m finally making renovations to make my home organized and personalized to my needs.

Starting with replacing the carpet on the second floor with a Scandinavian-inspired flooring, renovating the bedroom, and now the master walk-in closet. I’ve been researching custom closets for a couple of years now but it was just so expensive – different retailers quoted me over $6000. I’ve seen the IKEA PAX closet system at IKEA many times and figured it would be a more affordable option and I love all the storage and organization options.
I went into my local IKEA store and sat down with a team member to sketch up my closet on the 3D Pax Wardrobe Planner and it was so easy! We walked around all the PAX units so I could pull out drawers and see all the options before adding them to the planner. Guess how much the total was. $1130 for materials and $600 for TaskRabbit assembly, making the custom closet cost no more than $2000!

BEFORE
Here’s what the closet looked like before. The master closet that came with the house only had hanging options and not really any shelving to organize folded clothes so most of it when into storage bins or just sat on the floor.
AFTER: IKEA CLOSET
And here it is! My custom IKEA closet with the PAX system. I love how the entire closet lights up when I walk in and everything is on display and organized. No more digging through clothes!
I highly recommend you to measure and remeasure your closet before ordering the IKEA PAX Wardrobe system. On the 3D Pax Wardrobe Planner, you start with adding PAX frames into your closet space. I was able to fit five PAX frames into my closet. Looking into the closet from left to right is the 19″, 39″ and 29″ PAX frame. On the other side of the closet on each side of the doorway are two 29″ PAX frames.

IKEA KOMPLEMENT PULL-OUT TRAY
I wanted the center 32″ PAX frame to be the focus of the closet since it’s the first thing you need when you walk in. The KOMPLEMENT pull-out tray with the KOMPLEMENT Drawer liner and then the KOMPLEMENT Divider is the perfect way to organize and put your jewelry and accessories on display.
KOMPLEMENT Drawer with glass front
I wanted pops of color to peek out so the KOMPLEMENT drawer with a glass front is a great way to feature pieces of clothing.
IKEA KOMPLEMENT Drawer
So excited to have so many KOMPLEMENT drawers in the closet! There are two main 39″ drawers and then ten 29″ drawers.
KOMPLEMENT Clothes rail
The adjustable KOMPLEMENT clothes rail is convenient to hang dresses, tops, and coats. I’m using the BUMERANG natural wood hangers.
CLOSET LIGHTING
I used the TaskRabbit Assembly Service to have the closet assembled and do all the custom lighting. We used the ANSLUTA Electronic transformer, ANSLUTA Power supply cord, and NORRFLY LED light strips to light up the closet.
And the cherry on top is that IKEA has a 365 days return policy so even if you’ve assembled your PAX wardrobe and you don’t like it, just return it in the store!
