A couple of weeks ago, Kana from Dos Mundos Creative and I brunched at Emmer & Rye to film the behind-the-scenes of what a restaurant tasting looks like for my A Day In The Life Of A Blogger video (coming soon!). Last year I named Emmer & Rye best restaurant of the year and I still stand by that. Chef Kevin and his team get up early in the morning around 5am to mill their own grain to create flour for their homemade pasta. Hardly any restaurants do that in Austin. All the produce Emmer & Rye uses is locally sourced from Austin, and they use seasonal ingredients to create incredible dishes.

For dinner, Emmer & Rye offers a rotating “dim-sum” options that are served tableside and for brunch, it’s a dessert cart filled with options like orange marmalade scone, almond crumb cake, corn, strawberry & white chocolate muffins, pecan sticky buns, and lemon tartlets.
Sea Island Pea Shakshuka
With egg, fennel, turnips, and tomato. Served with housemade roti, which will change your life. I promise.
Polenta
With charred kale, mushroom confit, and soft poached egg. I love Emmer & Rye’s dinner polenta and the brunch polenta is now my favorite too.
