105 New Restaurants Opened In Austin In 2019

2019 is coming to a close which means it’s time for my yearly restaurant census. This year 105 new restaurants opened and 60 restaurants closed in North, South, East, West, and downtown Austin.

Let’s compared to previous years:

2017

• 93 new restaurants opened
• 62 restaurants closed

2016

• 100 new restaurants opened
• 44 restaurants closed

2015

• 100+ new restaurants opened

What was your favorite new restaurant this year? Mine are Oseyo, DipDipDip, Wonder Bar, Rosedale, Vaquero Taquero, Comedor, and Domo Alley-Gato. What was your saddest restaurant closing? I’m bummed about the closings of Little Sheep, Noble Sandwich, Steel City Pops, and Zocalo.
