Hey Austin, Shake Shack® will open its first-ever location in Austin, TX on Tuesday, May 5th at 11:00 AM in the brand new Lamar Union retail and residential development at the corner of South Lamar and Treadwell!
Shake Shack is a critically acclaimed, modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100% all-natural, antibiotic-free Angus beef burgers (no hormones added ever), griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle cut fries and more. A fun and lively community gathering place with widespread appeal, Shake Shack has earned a cult-like following around the world.
“We’re so thrilled to be planting roots in Texas, and we couldn’t ask for a better home than the cultural and culinary stronghold of Austin,” said Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti. “We’ll be working hard to cultivate a community gathering spot for locals and visitors to kick back with a delicious burger, frozen custard and cold beer.”
In addition to the Shack classics, the Austin Shack will feature an exclusive burger:
Table of Contents
Lockhart Link Burger
Composed of a cheeseburger topped with a griddled Kreuz Market jalapeño cheese sausage link, ShackSauceTM and pickles (pictured above).
Check out the menu here. Guests will also be able to wash down their meal with a selection of hand-picked wine and local craft beer from Hops & Grain, Independence, Karbach, Real Ale and Austin Eastciders, in addition to the Shack-exclusive Shack Red® and Shack White® wine from Frog’s Leap Winery and ShackMeister® Ale from Brooklyn Brewery.
The South Lamar Shack will also be spinning up two location-specific frozen custard concretes:
Uchi-koncrete
Vanilla custard, Uchi & Uchiko miso hazelnut blondie and huckleberry jam – created in collaboration with their friends just down the street.
Cold Shot
Vanilla and chocolate custard, brown sugar caramel sauce, chocolate toffee and malt powder – named in honor of Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan’s iconic tune
The Shack Attack
Chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough, chocolate sprinkles, and dark chocolate chunks from local favorite Kiskadee. This classic Shack fan favorite that originated at Shake Shack’s flagship location in NYC’s Madison Square Park, will be available as well with a sweet Austin spin.
5% Sales of Uchi-koncrete Donated to Austin Pets Alive
As part of its mission to Stand For Something Good®, the Austin Shack is partnering with Austin Pets Alive, which provides life-saving programs for Austin’s adoptable dogs and cats. Five percent of sales from the Uchi-koncrete will be donated to Austin Pets Alive, and Shake Shack team members will volunteer at events run by the charitable organization.
Local Interior Design
The Austin Shack also has local imprints in its carefully curated interior design. Dusk bats served as inspiration for a custom light installation crafted by a local Austin artist. In homage to Shake Shack roots in a lush park setting, a living moss wall adorns one side of the Shack composed of a variety of mosses, air plants, mushrooms, lichen and a variety of woods including cholla, white birch bark and sandblasted driftwood.
Green Architecture and Eco-friendly Construction
In keeping with Shake Shack’s commitment to green architecture and eco-friendly construction, the Shack will be constructed with recycled and sustainable materials and feature energy-efficient kitchen equipment and lighting. Chairs and booths will be made from lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, and tabletops will be handcrafted from reclaimed bowling alley lanes. The Shack’s kitchen food is composted and, like all Shacks, this location features energy-efficient kitchen equipment and lighting.
