Uchiko has launched a new sake social happy hour with updated signature items, new favorites, sake, wine, and beer offered daily from 5 to 6:30 pm.
“As the Sake Social menu has not changed in over three years, this is an exciting opportunity for guests to try new additions and versions of our popular dishes at a lower price, all while getting a steal on a variety of beverages,” comments Tyson Cole, Hai Hospitality Executive Chef.

Highlights include the addition of nigiri (2 pieces for $4 versus $3.50 per piece on the everyday menu), takoyaki, white miso tofu, and onigiri. Scroll down for the details on Uchiko’s new happy hour!
Table of Contents
NO MORE BRUSSELS SPROUTS
Now before you get upset like I did, the world famous Brussel sprouts are still available on the dinner menu but no longer discounted on the social hour. Sake hour features new items like white miso tofu (above), takoyaki, ebiyaki, short rib kimuchi, and temaki.
BACON / MUSHROOM ONIGIRI
My second favorite item on the Uchiko sake hour is the onigiri. Originally a salmon onigiri, Uchiko has now launched a bacon onigiri and a mushroom onigiri. If you’ve never had onigiri before – it’s a Japanese rice bowl. Uchiko fries their onigiri so it has a crispy exterior and warm, moist interior.
HIGHEST QUALITY SASHIMI IN AUSTIN
Uchiko (and sister restaurant, Uchi) still serve the highest quality sashimi in Austin. The sake nigiri is pictured above – Scottish salmon, preserved lemon and skyr yogurt.
? TAKOYAKI
Try the takoyaki with octopus or the ebiyaki with shrimp – it’s served with negi miso, scallion & ginger.
VEGETARIANS CAN EAT AT UCHIKO TOO
Just because Uchiko is a sushi restaurant doesn’t mean vegetarians can’t eat here. Try the avocado nigiri, white miso tofu, mushroom onigiri, kotemaki temaki, and jasmine cream.
GLUTEN-FREE FRIENDLY DESSERTS
If you’re gluten-free, feel free to ask Uchiko for gluten-free friendly options. The Jasmine Cream (pictured above) is the only dessert on the sake social hour and it’s incredible. Slightly sweetened jasmine cream with cilantro granita, pineapple, and honey on a bed of toasted soil. Or if you’re gluten-free – Uchiko makes it with puffed quinoa, which IMO is even better.
